The fact that the history of urology in Florida is so recent is what makes it more enjoyable to those of us who have known and have been involved with the individuals, events, and institutions that have given us what we have today: outstanding medical schools, fine residency training programs, effective urological societies, and an enduring spirit of fellowship. Currently, socioeconomic issues are having a dramatic impact on our lives. Today’s physicians are helping us to work through the problems of liability insurance, reimbursement, and managed care. With this publication we applaud and thank the many individuals who have worked so successfully to improve the practice of urology in Florida.
